2006 Jeep Wrangler Wheel Hub Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Wheel Hub on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before servicing or repairing the wheel hub, you need to raise the vehicle, support it and take off the wheel and tire assembly. After that, remove the brake caliper, rotor and ABS wheel speed sensor. Once those are done, take out the cotter pin, nut retainer and the axle hub nut. Start by disconnecting the mounting bolts holding the hub bearing on the steering knuckle from the back. After that, disconnect the hub bearing from the steering knuckle and axle assembly. Put the hub bearing and brake dust shield on the knuckle and after that, install all the knuckle bolts with the hub bearing, tightening them to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). After that, install the hub washer and nut, tighten the hub nut to a torque of 237 Nm (175 ft. lbs.), put in the nut retainer and use a new cotter pin. Lastly, connect the brake rotor, the caliper and the ABS wheel speed sensor, put the wheel and tire assembly in place and only then remove the support and lower the vehicle.
