2006 Jeep Wrangler Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace a Rear Wiper Arm on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before starting, open the rear wiper arm pivot cover at the rear wiper motor output shaft end. After removing the nut on the rear wiper, lift the arm to its farthest open position which will hold the wiper away from the glass and relax the tension of the springs. Should you need to, remove the pivot end after using a battery terminal puller to detach the wiper arm from the output shaft on the motor. Before installing anything, turn your ignition to On and pull down the rocker switch on the rear wiper and washer to put the motor in its park position. Ensure the motor's output shaft is still and switch off your engine. Attach the rear wiper arm's indexed mark to the motor's output shaft when the motor is parked, placing the pivot so the blade goes parallel with the bottom edge of the blackout strip on the upper liftglass. Swing the wiper arm so that it is over its center point, then fit the rounded hole at the end of the pivot over the motor shaft and press it down. Click the wiper arm nut onto the motor output shaft and tighten it 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.), ensuring that the torque does not go over this number. Move the wiper arm gently tilting it until the blade is on the glass, wet the windshield, run the rear wiper, switch it to Off and make sure the wiper arm is correctly placed.
