2007 Chrysler Aspen Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install and Remove an Ignition Coil on 2007 Chrysler Aspen?
A: A special ignition coil fits into each plug hole and is secured with a nut to the top of the intake manifold. At the bottom of the coil is a rubber boot that seals the spark plug, with a spring inside making sure there is secure contact between the coil and the spark plug. The oil inside the coil is kept sealed by an O-ring placed over the end of the cylinder head and the rubber boots and springs remain part of the coil body. Sometimes, to access and remove a coil, you have to take out the throttle body air intake tube or box. First, push down on the lock and pull the electrical connector from the coil. First, blow air at the base of the coil to clean the area and then unscrew the nut mounting the coil from the mounting stud on the compressor. When done, unplug the coil from the head opening by slightly twisting and taking it away from the car.
