2007 Chrysler Aspen Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Is a Knock Sensor Installed and Removed from an Engine on 2007 Chrysler Aspen?
A: Engineers bolt the two knock sensors into the cylinder block under the intake manifold. The sensor known as the left sensor carries a tag reading LEFT and has a larger bolt head. For everything to work correctly, the Powertrain Control Module depends on the proper arrangement of sensor locations, so do not swap them. To start, remove the knock sensor dual pigtail harness from the engine wiring harness near the engine's rear. After that, take out the intake manifold. After that, unscrew the sensor bolts; be careful, as the threads are wrapped in foam which will not be used in the final installation. Use no adhesive, sealant or thread locking compound on these bolts. In the final step, take out every sensor from the engine.
