Look at the rubber boot covering the coil and apply Mopar(R) Dielectric Grease # J8126688 at the end of the rubber boot leading to the spark plug and the top of the spark plug. Put the ignition coil assembly through the cylinder head opening and turn it to insert it onto the spark plug. Since the bolt for both coil assembly and Intake Manifold is the same, tighten it again after replacing any ignition coil. Tighten the mounting bolt for the coil assembly to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.), followed by snapping the electrical connector into the coil assembly. Afterward, plug the other end of the secondary cable into the coil and, where required, install the throttle body air intake tube or air box onto the roof of the engine.

  Each set of two spark plugs has its own ignition coil in the system and all the ignition coils are attached to the upper bank of eight spark plugs. A secondary cable joins every coil to the lower set of spark plugs and every coil is fitted in a machined hole in the cylinder head with its own connector. Because both the ignition coil assembly and Intake Manifold are mounted with the same bolt, it's important to check and tighten all eight bolts if any of the eight coils are being changed. A mounting bolt holds each coil assembly onto the top of the intake manifold and a rubber boot keeps the spark plug joined to the coil, along with the spring that helps establish mechanical contact with the upper bank of spark plugs. The coil assembly includes these rubber boots and springs, so they are maintained as one unit. The coil assembly might be removed by first removing the throttle body airintake tube or air intake box. The first thing to do is press the release lock down and, while holding it, gently remove the connector from the coil. After that, disconnect the secondary cable from the coil assembly and use compressed air to blow away anything stuck underneath.
