  Both knock sensors are attached with screws under the Intake Manifold inside the cylinder block. The left sensor is distinct by the tag marked LEFT and its larger bolt head. Make sure that the sensor locations match what the control module believes, so mix them only if you know exactly what you are doing. You should start by pulling the knock sensor dual pigtail harness free from the engine wiring harness which sits close to the rear of the engine. After that, take out the intake manifold. Then remove the bolts from the sensor mounting area, bearing in mind that a foam strip will be found where they are visible; this foil is for temporary use as a retainer, so do not put any sticky compound, sealant or locking agent on the bolts. After flushing, remove the sensors installed on the engine.

(20 Nm) (176 in.lbs.) for the bolt and test for lightness; more often, 8 mm bolts are very stiff. Remember that the foam strip is meant to hold the bolts in place during assembly; don't use any adhesive, sealant or thread locking compound on them. Secure the sensors in place, next tighten the bolts that hold them and proceed to install the Intake Manifold. Last, plug the knock sensor wiring harness into the engine harness at the back of the intake manifold.
