2007 Chrysler Crossfire Timing Chain Parts and Q&A
Q: What Are the Key Considerations for Installing a New Timing Chain Cover on 2007 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Be aware that the Timing Chain cover you install doesn't have screw holes, so you need to use the new suggested screws from the parts list instead. Check that the timing of the valves is at 40° ATDC. Spray sealer on the set area only and if you can see porous parts at the cylinder heads or nearby the gasket, put sealant only over these parts as a 2.0 mm ± 0.5 mm bead in just 10 minutes. Use a 1.5 to 2.0 mm bead of Loctite 5900 (or similar) sealer in the proper area, then arrange the timing chain cover at the front of the engine, making sure the bolts pointed out by the arrow are covered with thread sealer before fitting. Following this, install the timing chain cover bolts and tighten them until they read 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) on your torque wrench and after that, install the timing chain tensioner and tighten until it reads 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.). Remove Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool from the engine, then place in the starter, upper oil pan, lower oil pan and generator, coating the head bolt threads with a little lubricant before installing them. After tightening all the bolts from the front cylinder head to the timing chain cover to 20 Nm (7-15 ft. lbs.), fit the cylinder head covers, AIR pump, power steering pump and hoses for the radiator and heater, tie the lower hoses into the water pump, vibration damper, idler pulley, accessory drive tensioner, tensioner belt and radiator fan. Refill all the proper fluids and then connect the negative battery wire.
