2006 Chrysler Crossfire Timing Chain Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service a timing chain on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: You must first take off the timing chain cover and only then remove the oil pump drive chain and tensioner. Then, remove the bolts from the left and right camshaft sprockets and take off the timing chain together with both camshaft sprockets and the chain crankshaft sprocket. Perform a full check on the gaskets, guidance elements and sprockets for any wear or issues and repair or replace as is needed. While installing the crankshaft, flip the engine over and make sure its crankshaft is aligned to 40°. If your watch is not correct, turn the outer ring until the arrow points to 40. Lay the balance shaft sprocket against the timing mark and the copper teeth of the timing chain, then add the camshaft sprockets to the timing chain and realign the camshaft sprocket timing marks with the copper teeth. Set up the timing chain so it goes through the timing chain guides, as you install it with the sprockets. Apply Special Tools 9104 and 9105 Locating Plates to lock the camshaft sprockets and next fit the oil pump, oil pump drive chain and oil pump drive chain tensioner. Make sure the engine is facing up, add the timing chain cover and tighten the bolts until they are tight. After that, separate Special Tools 9104 and 9105 from the camshaft sprockets.
