2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser CV Boot Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a CV Boot on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Begin by first putting a new sealing boot clamp onto the interconnecting shaft and then sliding the outer boot of the CV joint assembly onto the shaft, so that the raised bead inside the seal boot fits into the groove on the shaft. Always change the circlip before you assemble your engine. Put the splines on the interconnecting shaft together with those on the cross in the outer CV joint. You should now be able to start the outer CV joint assembly onto the shaft. Hammer the end of the stub axle (with the hub nut fitted) until the outside CV joint is placed securely on the interconnecting shaft, making sure the cross point of the CV joint is fully pushed towards the circlip on that shaft. Put half of your grease into the outer CV joint assembly housing and store the rest into the sealing boot. Layer the outer CV joint sealing boot onto the clamp around the interconnecting shaft and secure it using C-4975-A Crimping Tool, making sure the tool grips the bridge and the nut is screwed shut until the jaws meet. In some cases, it's necessary to adjust the pressure in the seal and mold it by hand as needed. Line up the outer CV joint sealing boot in the groove on its housing and place it on the outer CV joint retaining clamp so it goes on evenly. Drive the clamping tool all the way down, tightening the nut until the tool is completely closed, before reinstalling the halfshaft that needs the boot.
