2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Tank Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Fuel Tank on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: When helping with the fuel tank unit, start by removing pressure from the fuel system, ensuring the place is well ventilated and avoid anything that might cause sparks or fire to prevent danger to yourself. Take off the fuel filler cap and apply the Fuel System Pressure Release sequence. After that, remove the lid from the air cleaner, cut the attachment between the inlet air temperature sensor and the engine's intake air passage and detach the negative battery cable. After lifting the vehicle, free the fuel tank and sweep any loose stuff off the top to clean the top surface. As proper positioning matters, be careful that the fuel pump is on top of the tank. Unlink the fuel filter lines from the fuel pump module and then use Special Tool #9340 to get rid of the lock ring to remove the pump module. Handle carefully, because the fuel pump module could still be holding fuel that might spill as it's removed. Afterward, extract the fuel pump module and its seal from the tank and toss out the seal.
