2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace an Intake Manifold on Different Engine Types on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, clean all the gasket areas where the lower intake manifold connects. On a naturally aspirated engine, fit new seals onto the lower intake manifold, but on turbocharged engines, replace the lower intake manifold gasket. Set the lower intake manifold on these engines and use a torque wrench to tighten the fasteners to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) following the correct order. Connect the lower intake manifold for turbocharged engines and use 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.) for its fasteners if it's made of aluminum, but use 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) if it's plastic. If your engine has a turbocharger, fit the lower intake manifold support bracket bolts and tighten them by 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) if your manifold is made of aluminum and by 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.) if your manifold is made of plastic. When you remove the fuel rail, put in the fuel rail assembly, tighten each screw with 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) and secure it. Join the fuel injector harness to the harness on the engine and look for damage on the quick connect fittings, fixing or changing them if they appear broken. Lubricate around the tube with proper engine oil and hook the fuel supply hose to the fuel rail assembly, tightly. Attach the tube of the oil dipstick to the lower intake manifold using the provided screw. After that, fit the thermostat and coolant outlet connector. Fasten the radiator upper hose and the upper intake manifold and finally screw the negative cable to the battery. With the cooling system full, bring up the pressure with the Asd Fuel System Test and use a Drbiii(R) scan tool to look for any leaks, while the Auto Shutdown relay is still being supplied. After that, check for any oil leaks after starting the car.
