2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Timing Cover on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before working on and fixing the timing cover, first remove the upper torque strut bolts and put the strut aside. When you have a turbocharger, vacuum and drain the system before cutting the air conditioning lines at the junction block near the spot where the upper timing belt cover is found. Following that, remove all upper timing belt cover fasteners and pull off the cover. Break the negative terminal connection and raise the vehicle using a hoist to remove the wheel and also the splash shield on the right side. Take out the accessory drive belts, the crankshaft damper and the lower torque strut. Remove the catalytic converter from the manifold and the A/C pressure switch that is inside the rear of the compressor housing. Let the vehicle down using the jack and place it on blocks to support the engine, then let out the A/C system and remove the A/C lines from the coupling block. Take out the upper torque strut, the screw that links the ground strap to the bracket and the upper torque strut bracket from the strut tower. Uncover the upper section of your radiator and detach the power steering pump together with its bracket, leaving the lines from the pump untouched. Raise the engine, using the jack, until the bolts for the engine support bracket can be loosened, then remove both the engine mount bolt and the engine support bracket. When finished, loosen the fastener bolts on the belt cover and remove it. On the rear cover, first remove the front timing belt covers, then get rid of the timing belt and the timing belt idler pulley. Secure the belt covers with the Camshaft Sprocket Holder 6847, then remove the bolts that hold the belt in place and take away the belt cover.
