Before installing the camshaft, check that the cam cap is numbered one, two or three to choose the correct type of select fit bearing and then install that specific type. Apply clean engine oil to all camshaft journal surfaces and, for any camshaft phasers removed, ensure you place the dowel in the proper hole before manual tightening of the bolts. Install the timing chain onto the sprocket on the exhaust cam, make sure the marks on the sprocket line up with the colored chain, then mount the exhaust camshaft on the bearings in the cylinder head, getting the timing mark to be parallel. While holding the sprocket still, place the rear of the intake camshaft higher and slide it into place so the timing marks on the sprocket match the colored mark on the chain and align them in the chain's journals. Make sure that both camshafts have their timing marks lined up and that these marks are also parallel to the cylinder head. Put in the front intake and exhaust camshaft bearing cap last, making certain the dowels are properly seated and using the accurate torque sequence to keep the engine safe; should the cap break, you must replace the cylinder head. Be sure to cma put in the intake and exhaust camshaft bearing caps, tightening each bolt to 9.5 Nm in the right order and confirm the shells of the exhaust are in place and the dowels are there when you're ready to torque the bolts. Attach the intake and exhaust cups on the bearing cap and fasten the bolts properly, starting with numbers 1 first, then 7 and 15, each at 25 Nm torque and check that all marks are in line. With the allen wrench out of the timing chain tensioner, pull hard on the rope going straight up to release locking wedge 9701. Use Mopar(R) thread sealant to cover the timing tensioner plug, then install it and set in the right splash shield. If the Rtv has not damaged the gasket, take it off and inspect the cylinder head cover gasket. If not damaged, place the gasket and cylinder head cover back into your car. First, attach the negative cable to the battery, fill both the engine oil reservoir and cooling system line, turn on the engine to search for leaks and finish by installing the cover over the engine.
