2007 Chrysler Sebring Crankshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Extract the Crankshaft from an Engine Assembly on 2007 Chrysler Sebring?
A: First, pull the entire engine unit out of the car and then remove the transaxle from the engine to take out the crankshaft. After that, unmount the flex plate/flywheel (1), along with the crankshaft rear oil seal. After that, set the engine onto a suitable repair stand and let the oil (2) and the oil filter (1) drain. Then, you have to remove the crankshaft vibration damper (2), water pump pulley (3), engine mount support bracket (1) and the oil pan (2). With everything else removed, the timing chain cover, timing chain, balance shaft module and crankshaft sprocket (1) are also removed. The ladder frame can be removed after the crankshaft position sensor retaining bolt (1) and the sensor (2) are taken out. Occasionally, removing and replacing the piston calls for the cylinder head to be taken out. To keep the cylinder identifications safe, stick labels should be added instead of putting a punch or stamp on the connecting rods. When removing connecting rod bolts and caps, do so carefully to save the fracture rod and cap; these bolts are not to be reused. After that, take off the main bearing caps and carefully lift the crankshaft from inside the cylinder block so no damage is done to the journals.
