2007 Chrysler Sebring Sway Bar Kit Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Sway Bar Kit on 2007 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Don't install the sway bar kit until you have checked the cushions and links for too much wear, cracks, and distortion, replacing those that are damaged. When installing the sway bar kit, make sure the ends curl beneath the steering gear tie rods. The first step is to place the sway bar kit and line up its link ends on the rear, then pass them over the crossmember and ease them under the steering gear. Then, place the cushions on the sway bar kit, naturally lining them up with the slit and then set the bushing retainers over both cushions. Secure the retainers to the crossmember with screws, tightening all four sway bar cushion retainer screws to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.). With a transmission jack, lift the crossmember up until it is in line with the locations you marked on the body as part of removing it. Set the reinforcement brackets on the rear bushings of the crossmember and install the mounting screws first, not tightening them. Secure the crossmember to the body with the four bolts, tighten them to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and then connect the crossmember reinforcement bracket bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Take the transmission jack and all the steering gear supports out. Put two bolts through the steering gear and crossmember, tighten them to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) and attach the heat shield to the steering gear with four screws. Place the hose routing clamps on the crossmember and tighten the screws until you get a reading of 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). Put the sway bar kit link next to the sway bar kit on both ends and secure with nuts at 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.) while holding the link's lower stationary stud in place. Remember to attach the rear engine mount, install the front engine mount through-bolt and if you have one, fit the engine belly pan before putting it on all four wheels.
