2007 Chrysler Sebring Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Steering Knuckle on 2007 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Lift and secure the vehicle, take the wheel mounting nuts off and remove the tire and wheel assembly to take out the steering knuckle. After a helper helps avoid the hub from rotating, loosen and unscrew the hub nut attached to the axle half shaft. After that, release the front brake rotor, then remove the clip that secures the wheel speed sensor cable to the knuckle. Open the screw that attaches the sensor to the knuckle and draw out the head of the sensor. Loosen the nut that holds the outer tie rod to the knuckle and hold the tie rod end stud with the wrench, so the rod can be removed. First, use Remover, Special Tool 9360, to take the outer tie rod end apart from the knuckle and then remove the outer tie rod. With the Remover, Special Tool 9360, remove the nut holding the lower ball joint to the lower control arm and carefully release the ball joint from the arm without lifting the whole knuckle out. Try not to turn any of the assembly-to-knuckle bolts as you remove them; begin by removing the nuts and then the bolts with a pin punch, while holding the bolt heads in position. Enable the half shaft by including a support to keep the inner C/V joint from moving outward. Take out the knuckle from the half shaft outer C/V joint splines and bring it inside the vehicle. If you need to, unscrew the shield from the knuckle and take off the shield. Should you need to, undo the bolts joining the hub and bearing to the knuckle and carefully remove the hub and bearing from the knuckle.
