2007 Dodge Caliber Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Clock Spring Assembly on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: To stop the supplemental restraint system in case an air bag triggers accidentally, first pull out the negative cable attached to the battery and wait two minutes for the car's capacitors to empty. A new Clock Spring comes with a locking pin set in place and this stays there until you install the wheel; if you remove the pin before then, you will have to realign the Clock Spring. Point the steering wheel straight ahead and use your steering wheel lock to secure it. Take out the negative battery cable and after that remove the steering wheel from the shaft. If you have reused the Clock Spring, add the rotor to the case to keep it centered. Lower the steering column completely and then take out the upper and lower shrouds. Pull out the right multi-function switch from the Clock Spring and then the left one. Using a screwdriver for the three screws on the Clock Spring, take it out from the lock housing, then access and remove the three wire harness connectors from behind the Clock Spring case.
