2007 Dodge Caliber Timing Cover Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Timing Cover in an Engine on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before fitting the timing cover, ensure all sealing places are clean of grease and oil, apply Mopar engine sealant or an equal product to block the parting line at the cylinder head, ladder frame and on the oil pan and block corner. Add a 2 mm coat of Mopar engine sealant RTV or an equivalent, to the oil pan and the engine block. Fit the timing chain cover onto the engine on the underside, set in place with the upper retaining bolts and tighten the bolts using a 12 Nm torque wrench for M6 ones and a 23 Nm one for M8 bolts. On top of that, attach the accessory drive belt tensioner, the right engine mount bracket, upper idler pulley and the right engine mount, then raise the engine jack to remove the jack underneath the engine. Secure the power steering pump in place, raise the car again and hold the oil pan to the timing chain cover by using the bolts that come from below. Secure the timing chain cover retaining bolts after that and then add the water pump pulley, crankshaft pulley, lower idler pulley and lower A/C compressor mounting bracket. After that, put on the A/C compressor and accessory drive belt. Replace the critical lower splash shield, lift up the vehicle and place the cylinder head cover. Join the coil electrical connectors, attach the PCV hose to the PCV valve, attach the make-up air hose, place the power steering reservoir, attach the windshield washer bottle and place the coolant recovery bottle. Put coolant into the cooling system, install the part that goes over the air cleaner housing, hook up the negative cable to the battery and place the hood cover.
