2008 Dodge Caliber Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover and Its Components in an Engine on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
A: For the timing cover installation, clean anywhere that the cover seals very well so no grease or oil is left and place Mopar(R) engine sealant RTV (or a similar product) on the ladder frame, in the oil pan/block corner and along the partition between the cylinder head and ladder frame. In addition, run a thin line of Mopar(R) engine sealant RTV or a similar substance, around the oil pan and along the engine block. Raise the timing chain cover into position from beneath the car and then fasten it with the upper retaining bolts, tighten M6 bolts to 86 in lbs and M8 bolts to 274 in lbs. After that, set the tensioner, the upper pulley, the bracket and the right engine mount and lower the jack from under the engine. Following this, mount the power steering pump, raise your vehicle and attach the oil pan to the timing chain cover below using the lower retaining bolts. After that, secure the timing chain cover retaining bolts at 9 Nm (80 in lbs) and put in the crankshaft pulley, water pump pulley, the two pulleys on the drive belts, the lower bracket for the air conditioning compressor and the compressor itself. Fit the drive belt, the right lower splash shield and bring the vehicle back down. Attach the cylinder head cover, install each coil electrical connector, connect the PCV hose to the PCV valve and put together the air hose. Put in the power steering reservoir, windshield washer bottle and coolant recovery bottle and then fill the cooling system. After that, put on the air cleaner housing inlet, attach the negative cable to the battery and set up the engine cover.
