Take care not to overdo it when using the ball socket end retaining clip to ensure it doesn't push the socket too far from the stud or the support cylinder may come loose and make the deck lid fall. To remove the retaining clip, slide a small tool into the outer face's hole in the ball socket, pry it out and pull the ball socket off the stud on the deck lid hinge. After clicking in the first retaining clip, insert another clip at the other end of the support cylinder. After that, disconnect the support cylinder from the deck lid hinge.
