Always be careful and only lift the socket end clip high enough to free the socket from the ball stud, because too much prying could damage the supporting spring and may cause the deck lid handle to separate from the vehicle. Insert a small flat-bladed tool into the opening at the hinge end of the support cylinder and push the retaining clip down while you pull the ball socket distance off from the ball stud on the hinge. Place the second end of the support into the base, secure it with the retaining clip and snap the other end into place on top. Taking the ends off allows you to pull out the support cylinder from the deck lid hinge. While installing, place the ball socket of the support cylinder on the ball stud of the hinge at the head of the lid and push the ball socket down to have the retainer clip click into place. After that, attach the ball socket of the support cylinder to the stud on the lower bracket of the deck lid hinge and push the rod end into place to hear the retainer snap. After that, verify the support cylinder clips are wrapped all the way bit and release the service props or blocks before closing the deck cover.
