2007 Dodge Dakota Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely and Effectively Service the Air Bag Control Module on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before starting work on the Air Bag Control Module, disconnect the battery negative cable, let it sit for two minutes to clear the system capacitor and then turn off the supplemental restraint system. Take care not to strike or drop the occupant restraint controller since this can harm the impact sensor and change the module's calibration; one drop requires buying a new controller. Start by pulling the floor distribution duct off the bottom part of the heater-air conditioner case. After that, release the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) (2) wiring connectors (1) on the instrument panel (C1) and (3) on the body (C2) by gently moving the red Connector Position Assurance lock to the left, pressing down on the tab on top of the connector mechanism and pulling the connector straight out of the ORC connector. Nuts (2) can be removed next, securing the ORC (1) to the studs (4) fixed on the ORC mount (3). Then, pop off the ORC from the ORC mount and voila, you're done!
