How to Safely Work with Air Bags on 2007 Dodge Dakota?

When diagnosing or fixing elements on the steering wheel, steering column, air bag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel in a car with air bags, you should always deactivate the supplemental restraint system first. The first step is to separate the battery's negative cable and then wait two minutes so the system capacitor discharges. After taking the underside of the steering wheel off, use two screws to secure the driver air bag to the steering wheel armature, then tighten them to reach a torque of 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.).
