2007 Dodge Dakota Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service an Air Bag Sensor on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: If you are servicing the side impact sensor, turn off the supplemental restraint system by unattaching and insulating the negative battery wire, then wait two minutes for its capacitor to empty. Do not hit or drop the side impact sensor, since this may cause problems; if it is dropped, it will need to be changed. Slide the sensor to the floor beneath the right or left front seat riser and connect the body wire harness connector to the sensor connector receptacle. Scientists carefully position the sensor on the floor panel, so the arrow on the sensor points toward the car's outer side and the anti-rotation pin fits into the center hole. Bolt the sensor to the inner B-pillar using two screws and tighten them to 8 Nm (75 in. lbs.). Lay the floor carpet back on the sensor and attach the other side of the scuff plate trim to the opening of the front door. Link the battery's negative terminal once the supplemental restraint system verification test has finished after working on any component of the system.
