2007 Dodge Dakota Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L V-6 Engine on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step to repair or service a 3.7L V-6 fuel rail is to make certain the fuel system pressure is released, since its pressure stays on even when the engine is not running. The entire set of fuel rails should only be replaced together and the halves should not be separated at the tubes without clamps. When you are taking off the fuel rail assembly, watch out for bending or curving the connectors. First, take out the fuel tank filler tube cap and then do the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure as explained. Remove the negative battery cable and then disconnect both the air duct and the air box at the throttle body. Using two bolts, remove the air resonator mounting bracket at the front of the throttle body. Following this, remove the latch clip and fuel line from where they are connected to the fuel rail. Pull the vacuum lines from the throttle body and by pushing the red slider back and down on each injector, disconnect the electrical connectors from all six fuel injectors. An identifier is included in factory fuel injection wiring to help identify the injector location. Take off the connector from the throttle body sensors and remove the six ignition coils. Now, remove the bolts hold the fuel rails in place. Lightly shake the left side of the fuel rail while you pull, so the injectors remove the machined pieces in the cylinder head and then do the same process on the other side. Remove the fuel rail and its injectors from the engine as your final step. Remove the fuel injectors using the correct procedure you find for your vehicle.
