Begin by taking away parts of the console so you can reach the shift lever assembly and the cables for the shifter. Close the transmission clutch, then remove the shift cable at the spot between the shifter assembly bracket and shift lever. After that, take out the park-interlock cable from the shifter lever and the bracket on the shifter. Take apart all the wiring connectors, undo all nuts that hold the shifter to the floor pan and then get the shifter out of the car.
