2007 Dodge Nitro Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Steering Knuckle on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: First, securely lift and support the vehicle, removing the tire and wheel assembly after that. After that, remove the caliper adapter, checking that the disc brake caliper is properly supported so the brake hose is not damaged. After jacking up the car, take out the disc brake rotor and the wheel speed sensor. On a vehicle with four-wheel drive, take off the axle shaft nut. After that, loosen and remove the tie rod nut and detach the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle by using tool 9360. After that, pull off the lower ball joint nut and with tool C-4150A, separate the lower ball joint from the suspension arm. After removing the upper ball joint nut, pull the upper ball joint away from the knuckle with Tool 9360. Examine the seal side surfaces of the upper ball joint, lower ball joint and outer tie rod knuckle bosses for large grooves or gouges; if they are discovered, change the steering knuckle. After that, remove the knuckle from the car and, when required, take out the hub or bearing.
