2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: Is Your Passenger Air Bag in Need of Replacement on 2007 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before you replace a damaged or defective passenger air bag, disable the supplemental restraint system by unhooking and separating the negative battery cable and give it two minutes for the capacitor to drain. No object from the outside should reach the passenger air bag and always ensure that the passenger air bag panel is painted properly so deployment is not affected. Lift the passenger air bag and insert its door through the gap in the top of the instrument panel base trim, checking that the back of the passenger air bag lower bracket connects with the hook formation on the instrument panel air bag support bracket and the anti-rotation tabs on the air bag holders each attach into the two holes on the air bag lower bracket. Add and tighten the two screws connecting the passenger air bag lower bracket to the instrument panel air bag support bracket to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). Push the plastic plate on the right side of the instrument panel bracket, then insert the pigtail wire from the inflator into its retainer. Connect the instrument panel wire harness connector to the passenger air bag pigtail connector, making sure the latch and red lock are in place. Insert the tabs at the back of the passenger air bag door into the appropriate openings of the instrument panel base and then, by applying pressure over each snap, make sure the air bag door snaps into each receptor until it is properly seated. Place the glove box and top cover over the instrument panel, but hold off on connecting the battery negative cable, because a test on the supplemental restraint system should be done after any supplemental restraint system work is completed.
