Before you install a passenger air bag, cut off the power to the SRS by removing and isolating the negative
Battery Cable for two minutes. Prevent objects from entering inside the passenger air bag and do not coat the passenger air bag door with paint because it could influence how well the bag works. Position the air bag and air bag door assembly together through the top opening in the instrument base, so you see the rear edge of the lower bracket hooked onto the instrument panel air bag support bracket and the anti-rotation wings go into the holes on the lower bracket. Clamp the two screws that secure the lower bracket to the support bracket to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.) during installation. Press the inflator pigtail wire onto the plastic retainer plate on the support bracket's right side until it snaps in correctly. Be sure that the latch on the instrument panel connector latches with the cable's end connector, also known as the passenger air bag pigtail. Put the interlocking tabs on the passenger air bag door into the slots in the instrument panel base trim, then push down the air bag panel over the snap features so it snaps into place. Put back the
Glove Box and the top cover into the instrument panel. Negative battery cable reconnection shouldn't happen until you have finished the verification test after servicing anything to do with SRS.
