2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Brake Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Repair Heavy-Duty Brake Pads on 2007 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before anything else, put an old brake shoe between a C-clamp and the piston in the caliper and then push the piston down into the bore of the caliper. Wash the caliper mounting adapter (1) and anti-rattle springs (2), then use Mopar brake grease to lubricate the anti-rattle springs, since they cannot be mixed. Set the new top anti-rattle springs (2) down first and then put in the bottom anti-rattle springs (1). After that, add the inboard brake shoe (1) around the inside of adapter (2) and the outboard brake shoe (1) around the outside of adapter (2). Holding the caliper by the top, turn it over the rotor and the adapter and press the caliper down, covering the bottom half on the adapter. First, attach the caliper, then the whole wheel and tire assembly and let the car down once everything is installed. Many trial brakings will cause the caliper pistons and brake shoes to stay securely in place, ending with the brakes responding firmly and having the master cylinder fluid reserved at its proper level.
