2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Piston Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Piston on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: First, dismantle the engine, then remove the left and right cylinder heads and at last, take out the lower and upper oil pans. Before you detach the pistons, use a good ridge reamer to remove the top ridge inside the cylinder of the block to make sure the pistons are fully covered. Piston and connecting rod removal from the cylinder block requires you to rotate the crankshaft so that each connecting rod lines up in the cylinder bore. Following that, undo the connecting rod bolts (7) and extract the piston (3) and connecting rods (2) from the cylinder bores. Make sure the connecting rods (9) and connecting rod caps are identified. If not, paint them to ensure each is properly marked. Then, remove the cap from the connecting rod, slip on protectors for the connecting rod and carefully slide the piston assemblies from the cylinder bore, trying not to damage the crankshaft journals.
