2007 Jeep Commander Axle Shaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install an Axle Shaft on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Before installing the axle shaft, tighten the loose bearing flange stud to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Tap the axle shaft into both the axle bearing and the axle flange. After that, slide the axle shaft (1) into the axle tube and backing plate and add a new O-ring around the axle. Slip O-ring (2) onto the back of the plate and push the axle through so that bearing (1) comes through the front. Set one O-ring (2) on the axle bearing and place the axle in the axle tube until it clicks. Secure each axle (2) flange nut (1) by tightening it to 119 Nm (88 ft. lbs.). Followed by this, fit the speed sensors (2) onto the ends of the axle tube (1). Now, put Mopar(R) Stud N' Bearing Mount Adhesive or a similar compound on the newly fitted plug, install it using the freeze plug tool and fit the calipers and rotors.
