2007 Jeep Commander Ball Joint Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Ball Joint on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Take off the ball joint-mounted wheel, tire, brake caliper and the brake rotor to service the ball joint. Remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle by using special tool C-3894-A. After that, take off the upper ball joint from the knuckle with special tool 8677 and then uncouple the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle using the same tool. After uninstalling the steering knuckle, remove the clevis bracket and shift the halfshaft to one side and hold it clear for 4X4 vehicles. Lubing heavily at the threaded spots on the tool will keep it working well and decrease the risk of damage. After that, press the ball joint on the lower control arm using the tools C-4212-F (PRESS), C-4212-3 (Driver) and 9654-3 (Receiver).
