2007 Jeep Compass Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Caliper on 2007 Jeep Compass?
A: Before starting, use a brake pedal holding tool to press the brake pedal past its first inch, then keep it held to separate the master cylinder from the brake lines and stop brake fluid from draining out of the reservoir. After that, lift the vehicle and secure it in position, next take out the three nuts holding the wheel mounts and finally remove the rear wheel and tire. Remove the brake tube nut from the rear flex hose and unclip the flex hose from the trailing link mounted bracket. Take out the brake flex hose from the brake caliper. Whichever guide pin bolt has the special sleeve needs tightening on only one of the sides. Re-position the bolts as they were before in order to avoid noise, vibrations and harshness. When the two guide pin bolts are loose, pull the brake caliper together with its outboard brake pad from the adapter bracket, inboard brake pad and rotor. Pry the clip at the back of the brake pad to open and then slide the brake pad off with the removed clip firmly in your hands.
