2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Booster on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: To do the work, begin by siphoning the master cylinder and then take off the main brake line at the master cylinder and the main brake line from the HCU (4). After that, take off the secondary brake line from the master cylinder and the HCU (4), plus take out the 4 lines connected to the HCU from the car (3). Decouple the HCU electrical connection (5) and then eliminate the 3 mounting nuts at the HCU bracket (2) to pull the whole HCU (1) bracket assembly out of the vehicle. Turn off the car and then disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector (9) from the fluid reservoir (2). Also remove the 2 master cylinder mounting nuts (8) to free the master cylinder (6). Remove the vacuum hose at the booster check valve and then together remove the hush panel and the steering column opening cover with it. Pull out the retainer (1) that secures the booster push rod (2) on the pedal pin (2). Then, slide the push rod off that pin. Remove the wire connector from the brake lamp switch and pull the switch off. Remove the final four nuts (3) holding the booster to the dash panel, pull each of the wire harness routing clips (3) free and lower the wire harness (1), catching it before it hangs too low and finally remove the booster (1) from the vehicle.
