2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Steering Knuckle on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Lift and stabilize your vehicle and then take off the wheel and tire assembly before working on the steering knuckle. Make sure the caliper is being held by something solid and does not hang off the brake hose. Then, get rid of the brake caliper (1) and caliper adapter (1), remove the O-ring (2) and the disc brake rotor (1). Take out the bolt (2) that connects the sensor to the car, then remove the wires from the retaining clips on the knuckle. With a four-wheel drive car, you need to remove the axle shaft nut. After that, take out the hub/bearing (3) and the outer tie rod end retaining nut and then disconnect the outer tie rod end (3) from the steering knuckle by using special tool 8677(5). Loose the ball joint nut from the lower ball joint and use tool C-4150A (2) to take it out from the knuckle (1). Afterward, remove the upper ball joint nut and extract the upper ball joint from the knuckle with 8677 (1). Last, take out the knuckle (3) from the vehicle.
