2007 Jeep Liberty Body Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Remove and Program the Body Control Module (BCM) for Service on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before taking out the Body Control Module (BCM), first turn off the supplemental restraint system by removing the negative battery cable and then wait for two minutes to let the system capacitor discharge. Before switching out the BCM, take the current settings for the electronic pinion factor, cabin equalization, country code and Remote Keyless Entry by scanning the vehicle with a proper tool, as you have to input them into the new BCM before the car can be serviced. When a new BCM is fitted, the speedometer may display incorrectly and some electronic features will not be available, until you follow proper programming. Unplug the battery cable from where it is attached to the negative terminal, then take the Junction Block Module (JBM) from the driver's side instrument panel end bracket. Following that, remove the four screws holding the BCM to the Junction Block before you can pull out the BCM itself.
