2007 Jeep Liberty Windshield Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Windshield on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: First, open the vehicle's window, to keep the passenger area from pressurizing, as slamming a door or swing gate too soon can result in water leaks after sealing the windshield. Wash off the old urethane and install spacers on the windshield studs or repair screws across the bottom of the opening. Slot the new windshield into place, placing it at the center using the support spacers, then mark the glass using a grease pencil or tape so you can find the correct position later. Place the windshield inside up on a work surface using two wood blocks, each 50 cm long and 10 by 10 cm square which are 75 cm apart. Use Mopar(R) Glass Cleaner and a clean cloth to clean the windshield, then apply clear glass primer about 25 mm wide along the edge and remove any extra with a dry, clean cloth. Then spread black-out primer 15 mm wide on the top and sides and 25 mm on the bottom and let it dry for at least three minutes. Add the windshield spacers to the bottom edge of the high fence where the support spacers are, place the upper molding dot above the mark on the glass and put in the upper molding. Put a 10 mm bead of urethane around the edge and two beads on the bottom edge of the moldings. Apply some primer around the entire edge of the windshield area of the fence and give it at least 18 minutes to dry before moving on. Help place the windshield into the opening, placing the indicators from the bottom with the support spacers, then let the windshield lower slowly into place, fixing the top molding while guiding it as necessary until it matches with the roof line. Wipe off any extra urethane from the vehicle's exterior using Mopar(R) Super Clean or another similar product, before you put in the windshield side moldings, cowl grille and the inside rear view mirror. When urethane has dried, do a water test to make sure the repair worked.
