2007 Jeep Patriot A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the A/C Condenser to Prevent Compressor Damage on 2007 Jeep Patriot?
A: It is important to set the right refrigerant oil level when maintaining the A/C refrigerant system to protect your compressor. When changing the A/C condenser and nothing else, add 20 milliliters (0.7 fluid ounce) of specialized oil just for the A/C compressor that is called out in the vehicle's manual. You should always change the O-ring seals and gaskets when you open any refrigerant line to prevent leakage. You should slowly let the A/C condenser down in front of the radiator and fix the upper brackets onto it. If you have the 2.0L diesel engine, set in the charge air cooler. Hook up the automatic transmission cooler lines to the condenser on the left side of the A/C and then floor the vehicle. Join the lower condenser brackets to the radiator using two bolts fastened to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.). With gasoline engine models, get to the A/C liquid line by removing the cover from the bottom of the front fascia. Detach the tape or plug from both the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port, put a little clean refrigerant oil on a new rubber O-ring seal and install both the new seal and the gasket onto the liquid line fitting. Link the A/C liquid line to the A/C condenser and turn the retaining nut until it is tight, applying 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Raise the vehicle to the regular position, lose the engine and repeat the procedure on the discharge line fitting and the condenser inlet port, installing both a new gasket and O-ring seal after coating them with lubricant. To get at the A/C condenser for gasoline engines, move the radiator slightly from the front, hook up the discharge line and attach the nut with 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.) of torque. If the car has a gasoline engine, move and fit the upper radiator support and for those with a 2.0L diesel engine, fit the front fascia. Once the negative cable is reconnected, do not run the engine until all vacuum pressure from the vacuum pump or A/C has been released or else the compressor may get damaged. Pull out any refrigerant from the system, if changing out several components, add in the given amount of refrigerant oil and restore the A/C system.
