  • Q: How to Safely Service Components Using the A/C Switch on 2007 Jeep Patriot?
    A: The air bag system must be turned off and allowed to discharge for two minutes by first disconnecting the negative battery cable before handling any component of the steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel. Disconnect and remove the negative battery cable as the first step. After that, take out the center bezel from the instrument panel and unplug the wiring connector for the clock, power window switches and accessory switches. Be sure to write down where all the control cables are situated before pulling anything off. Loosen the retaining clips for the AC-Heater Control by using a smaller screwdriver. Also, loosen the sides of the retaining clips that hold the control cables in place to the mode control sector gear and to the temperature control sector gear. Disconnect the harness wire from the rear of the A/C-heater control and then set the center bezel on a workbench. After that, remove the four screws that attach the A/C-heater control to the back of the center bezel and take it out.
