2007 Jeep Patriot Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Tie Rod End on 2007 Jeep Patriot?
A: If not done when you installed the inner tie rod end, first install the jam nut (5) on the threaded end of the inner tie rod. After that, put the outer tie rod (4) onto the inner tie rod, turning each one an amount like the initial installation. After that, take the jam nut (5) and put it firmly into the inner tie rod, leaving it loose for now. Insert the outer tie rod ball stud into the hole in the knuckle arm (3) and start a tie rod mounting nut (2) on the stud. With the tie rod end stud secured with a wrench, tighten the nut with another wrench or crowfoot wrench to torque of 132 Nm (97 ft. lbs.). After that, put on the wheel and tire assembly (1) and tighten the wheel mounting nuts (3) until you reach a force of 135 Nm (equivalent to 100 ft. lbs.). Bring down the car and work with the nut for toe setting on the front wheels. Once the wheel toe is correct, screw the tie rod jam nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
