How to Remove and Repair a Liftgate Hinge on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Before beginning service and repair for the trunk or liftgate hinge, first release the latch and open the liftgate. Then, remove the trim panels from the side of the vehicle being worked on and drop the back of the headliner to get to the liftgate bolts. While working, support the liftgate with a suitable truck, fork or lifter in the position you need to service. Use duct tape around the gap on the roof, leading to the liftgate, to keep it from wobbling. After that, get rid of the two bolts binding the liftgate hinge to the liftgate and the three bolts securing the hinge to the roof header before taking the hinge out.
