How to Service and Repair a Liftgate Hinge on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Before you begin, separate and insulate the negative battery cable. Push the release buttons on the decklid latch and then open the decklid. Take out the decklid trim piece and disconnect its wire harness from the body wire harness. Place a lifting device under the decklid and unfasten the gas prop rods from the decklid. Unfasten the bolts securing the decklid and, help on hand, carefully take the liftgate off the vehicle. With the bolts out, take the lid hinges off the body.
