Always let your engine cool for a while before servicing or fixing the oxygen sensors, to prevent burns from the hot parts in the exhaust system. Operate both the present and target sensors using a contaminant removal device. After lifting and propping the car up, separate the O2S wire harness clips from the engine if fitted, then take off the O2S harness from the wiring at the engine (6). Also, take out the O2S (2) from the lower exhaust pipe (1) when you are done. Raise and position the vehicle again, unplug the harness mounting clips for the O2S wire harness from the engine or body (2), pull out the O2S pigtail harness from under the engine wiring (5), then remove the O2S from the catalytic converter (4).
