2008 Dodge Caliber Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install the Rear Lower Control Arm on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before anything else, place the lower control arm under the rear and fix it with bolt 5 and nut 6 to crossmember 7 without tightening the bolts yet. Next, place bolt 3 and nut 2 where they belong to link the lower control arm with trailing link 1; just don't tighten them yet. Fasten stay brace 3 to crossmember 1 and secure with screws 2 to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Then, attach bolt 1 and nut 3 to lock shock assembly 2 to the lower control arm 4, but don't tighten them. During installation, remember the right-side stud of the stabilizer bar at the lower control arm should be facing the back of the car and vice versa for the left side link. If your car has a stabilizer bar link, fit the link to lower control arm 4, put on nut 2, hold the link's lower stud steady and tighten nut 2 to 58 Nm (43 ft.-lbs.). Put on tire and wheel assembly 1 and then tighten the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). After lowering the vehicle, place it on an alignment rack or lift it on a drive-on lift when needed to reach the mounting bolts and nuts. Tighten the bolts at the crossmember cross-nut (the lower control arm mounting bolt) to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.), the bolts at the trailing link to the same and finally tighten the low mounting bolt nut on the shock assembly to 99 Nm (73 ft. lbs.). Finally, you should carry out wheel alignment when needed.
