How to Safely Service a Wiper Switch on 2008 Dodge Caliber?

When maintaining the wiper switch, it is important to disable the supplemental restraint system to avoid any personal injury or death if your vehicle has air bags. Detach the ground wire from the battery, then wait a minimum of two minutes for the system capacitor to drain. Remove the upper shroud on top of the steering column and the lower shroud nearest to the car dashboard. Following that, unscrew the screw holding the right multi-function switch to the Clock Spring assembly on the right side. Move the switch away from the Clock Spring so the slide tab on the bottom of the switch housing can move off the channel cutout in the bracket. Pull the jumper wire harness plug from the inboard side of the right multi-function switch and then remove the switch from the Clock Spring.
