2008 Dodge Caliber Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install an Ignition Lock Cylinder on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
A: Check that the ignition switch is set to Run and the actuator shaft inside the lock housing is also set to Run, ensuring you don't damage the key-in plunger (3) while attaching the new ignition lock cylinder. Connect the ignition switch to the key-in plunger (3), actuator shaft and retaining tabs (2). Disconnect the retainers, then carefully snap the switch into position on the housing. Connect the ignition switch (2) to the vehicle using a 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.) tightened mounting screw (1). Put the lock cylinder housing in the Run position and make it parallel to the steering column. With a Torx(R) Plus Bit, Special Tool 10041 or a Tamper-Proof Torx(R) Plus (Five point) 30 bit, add two screws (1) to secure the lock cylinder housing (2) to the column. Secure them at a tightness Highlight the number: 16 Nm (142 in. lbs.). In case the actuator is not set to Run inside the lock cylinder, place it there first. Then insert the key in the key cylinder and turn it to Run. Position the retaining tab from the key cylinder with the matching spot in the lock cylinder housing and push the key cylinder into the top of the housing unit. Turn the key first Off, then to Start, turning it back and forth a couple of times before installing the key again to verify that everything works properly. Insert the ring on the Skreem/Wcm (2) into the housing of the lock cylinder (3) and slide the retainer along the side until the fingers are in the small notches. Screw the Skreem/Wcm (2) in with the screw (1), make sure it is in the lock cylinder housing (3) and tighten it to a torque of 3.5 Nm (31 in. lbs.). If your automatic transaxle includes an interlock, push the connector (2) for the interlock cable into the housing (1), insert the key into the key cylinder, turn it to On and take the key out. After that, connect the Steering Column Control Module (Sccm) (3), along with the earlier-removed items and check to confirm that shifting or turning the steering wheel affects the ignition key as intended.
