2008 Dodge Challenger Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on an Engine on 2008 Dodge Challenger?
A: Before installing the timing cover, you should clean the chain cover and the engine block while always using a new gasket. Ensure the slide bushings are fitted in the timing cover, then carefully seal the cover with its new gasket and tighten the fasteners to a 28 Nm (250 in. lb.) torque, making sure the big lifting stud gets a 55 Nm (40 ft.-lb.) tightening. Then, position the oil pan and pick up tube, then the A/C compressor, the generator and finally the power steering pump. After that, place the dipstick support bolt and thermostat housing and then install the crankshaft damper. After that, put in the tensioner assembly for the accessory drive belt, as well as the two idler pulleys and then attach the timing cover's lower and heater hoses. Insert the radiator fan shroud, cooling fan, drive belt for accessories, coolant, washer bottle, upper hose for the radiator and air cleaner assembly. Next, add coolant to the cooling system, fill the engine oil, hook up the battery's negative cable and place the engine covers.
