2008 Dodge Dakota Drive Shaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Correctly Install a Drive Shaft on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before inserting the drive/propeller shaft, first clean the bolts with a cleaner and apply Mopar(R) Lock & Seal Adhesive or an alternative to the threads. Place the slip yoke onto the automatic transmission/transfer case output shaft, with the marks pointing in the same direction. Line up the references on the transmission and propeller shafts and set new bolts with a torque of 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.) on vehicles with manuals. For vehicles with a two-piece shaft, line up the center bearing with the marks on the bracket and tighten its bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft-lbs.). After that, join the reference marks on the propeller shaft and pinion flange, secure bolts into the new companion flange and tighten them to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). If you do not follow these instructions, the driveline may vibrate.
