2009 Dodge Dakota Drive Shaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Drive Shaft Correctly to Prevent Driveline Vibration on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before installing the drive shaft, use brand-new Loctite bolts with a patch or, if you don't have them, clean the old bolts and use Mopar Lock & Seal Adhesive or similar over the threads. Slide the slip yoke onto the output shaft of the automatic transmission/transfer case, so the reference marks meet. When using a manual transmission, first bring together the alignment marks on the flange and propeller shaft and then use a wrench to secure the bolts to 115 Nm. On vehicles with a two-piece propeller shaft, point the middle bearing to the reference marks on the middle bearing bracket and tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs (54 Nm). Next, bring the center of the reference marks together on the propeller and pinion flanges, put the companion flange bolts in place and tighten them to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). If you obey these steps, you won't experience driveline vibration.
